Wow! What an incredible day!!! It started early, I had to leave the house early and by the time I arrived at the office Tammy had been there since about 6:30 finishing up the wrapping and getting us organized for the day.
You see today we went out and granted 4 Christmas wishes from the KLTY "Christmas Wish". We picked out 4 families that had been nominated by friends or family, and drove from one place to the next until all their Christmas' where delivered! What fun!!!
We had some very special helpers today as we went and visited these precious people. The Myers Brothers Band hung out with us all day and sang to the families that we went and visited; Nathan, John and Jake...(Jarrod is in Nashville). They were incredible!!! Myers Brothers, the thing that really touched my heart was that every time you sang, you truly brought the atmosphere of praise, over the birth of our Savior, into the room. It was magical and beautiful ,and I thought at times my heart was going to burst with love for our Lord Jesus Christ, and His arrival into the world that glorious night! Thanks again guys!
The first house we visited was for a sweet man named Julio. Julio is legally blind and he and his two sisters just lost their mom last year. Julio lived with his mom, so he has really taken her loss hard. Julio works as a janitor, but I think he only gets part time hours, so keeping up with his apartment rent and other expenses is a struggle for him.
So with the help of his two sisters and his niece, we went and surprised him this morning with Christmas.
Julio, we hope you have a wonderful Christmas! You have a truly wonderful family that loves you very much. What a blessing!
The second house we went to was for a sweet woman named Kirsten. She just lost her husband this past summer from medical problems. She has two precious children and they are having a rough time, so with the help of her friend Elaine, we took Christmas to her also. She was very overwhelmed, but I felt like maybe some of the burden was lifted with the gifts we took.
Kirsten, you are so sweet, we are so sorry for your loss and we will continue praying for you. We hope you have a wonderful Christmas!
The third place we went to was not a home, but a school called the Clubhouse for Kids in Bedford.
Darlene Hollingsworth started the school because as a mom to her Down Syndrome son, Jonathan, she could not find an after school care facility for him. There are about 26 total students, and it's been a continual struggle for her; carrying the financial load for the school. She is so awesome; totally a woman that believes God will keep his promises and provide for the school...I love her faith. She loves those kids so much, you can just tell!
We took her Christmas gifts and some money, and Tammy's dad even donated a very special gift... watch the video and you will see what it is! We also got to meet her friend that nominated her, Carrie, and another special friend Mona. Carrie and Mona, we are so glad you got to be there when we showed up, it was wonderful to meet you!
Darlene, you are truly doing an amazing work. Keep on keeping on, and thank you for being the example that you are!!
Well, it was time for our last visit, by this time my two kids, Katie and Christian were out of school, so I was able to run and get them so they could help us out.
The last person on our list was nominated by Lisa, for her sister Deedra. Deedra has five children, and they have been having a rough time financially, so they really were not going to have much, if anything for Christmas. The thing that really touched us about Deedra is the fact that she has given up her bedroom to her kids, and she sleeps on the couch every night. What a mom! We showed up with presents for everyone and money. It was amazing!!!
Deedra, you are a special mom the way you love on your kids, and we were privileged to meet you!
Well, that's it for tonight. What an incredible day! It just doesn't get any better than this! I know I've said this before, but I will never forget this Christmas, and we are only 4 days into our 12 days!
God Bless
Theresa
