12... hundred...Gifts at Walmart! That's right..1200!

Our last day of Christmas...how sad! BUT...we went out with a bang! We gave away 1200 gifts in front of the Walmart Supercenter in Grapevine! Wow...we felt like kids again as we dressed up in elf costumes and handed out free gifts for about 2 and a half to 3 hours. I really thought we could give out the free gifts faster than we did, but it took us a while. The whole gang was there and we had some help from our families; my kids got to help, that was really great! Again people thought there was a catch! But no, we just wanted to give! What a fun day! Kids who Care and the Myers Brothers came out and sang for everyone. They were awesome!!! I hope some of you got to come and get a free gift!
We had so much fun with the awesome employees of Walmart! Thanks all of you for your words of encouragement! You helped make Friday a wonderful Day!!!
I saw a lot of smiles as we gave away the gifts...and it made me think, seeing someone smile is awesome. How valuable is a human smile? There are people all over the world, including here in the United States, that don't ever smile, because they have nothing to smile about. There is so much need, so many people hurting...so many kids who have no one to love them. I feel like my eyes were opened this Christmas. Instead of only being able to see my immediate world and my Christmas... I was allowed the gift of being able to see what many people were going through for their Christmas. Like Sarah, our single mom and teacher, having a hard time with certain things, but never uttering a complaint, and Kirsten and her kids facing their first Christmas without husband and father, then Darlene facing Christmas with nothing to give her son and fighting to keep the doors open to the school for disabled kids that she started. Surprising Deedra and her kids was incredible, they had nothing under the tree, and I fell in love with Julio before I ever met him, he lost his mother this year, and being legally blind could not find full time work, so he was having a very hard time. And those sweet elderly people that left a mark on my heart, I will never forget how their smiles changed me.
All of this made me realize how much hurt and need there is out there, and it also made me realize how very blessed I am. This whole experience has drawn me closer to the Lord and more grateful than ever for the true gift of Christmas...my Savior. I think about the love He has for us, a love so great that he died for us, a horrific, awful death...all for us. I want to love like that, I want a heart after the Fathers own heart. This Christmas I am more determined than ever to truly celebrate the Birth of my Savior, putting the reason for the Season, Jesus...First!
God Bless and I wish you all a very Merry Christmas!

11 Elders dancing! They were awesome!!!

Last night we went to Prestonwood Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Some of the residents live there full time and then some just come for a while to under go rehab for medical reasons. We know that this can be a tough time of year for the elderly... no one wants to leave their home and family whether it be for a short period of time or permanently. So... we wanted to bring cheer to them this Christmas Season by throwing them a Christmas party! Susan is the Liaison there and she really helped us in getting this together. Thanks so much Susan, Tina and the rest of the team for all you did that night, and all that you do every day for those precious folks!

This project was especially near and dear to our hearts. The loneliness that can overtake the elderly is something that just burdens your heart. Some of them have lost everyone and the pain they go through is heartbreaking when they tell you that they are the only one out of all their siblings and friends left alive. So we really tried for several days to think of something that they would really enjoy. We wanted them to have a great time and laugh! Laughter is so good for us.

So back to the Christmas party. We had cake and punch, then Joshua and Tammy performed a dance for them. It was great and they seemed to really like it. Then we got as many as we could up to dance with us. Most of them where in wheelchairs but that didn't matter...we danced with them anyway! Then we played musical Christmas Gift. We put all of their wheelchairs and chairs in a circle and then passed out gifts to everyone. When the music came on, everyone had to pass their gift to the left until the music stopped. Then Christopher had every third person open their gift. They thought they would keep that gift...but no...the music came back on and they had to continue passing the gifts to the left. This time when the music stopped everyone opened their gift. Now it got really funny because one gift was a dog bone. A sweet man named Cecil that I danced with got it first. He was such a good sport and laughingly he told everyone that he did not have a dog! Then Christopher started asking if anyone wanted to trade. This is when it really got fun. The bone made its way around the room ...but did I mention you could only trade once. Finally when the bone came to it's final resting place, we surprised the recipient with 4 awesome gifts! The big frown on her face turned into a great big smile!

I think the best gift we gave that night was our love and our time. We went out and spent time with them and hopefully a little joy was spread. I know it was on our end... I know that for the whole team, this was one of our favorite days!!!
God Bless

10 Picketers Picketing in Downtown Fort Worth

Wow, it was cold today in Downtown Fort Worth!!! Cold, damp and drizzly, but we still had a blast! We decided to picket positively, not that all picketing is not positive, some of it is important. But when people think of picketing, they usually think of two opposing sides trying to prove that they are the ones who are right. Well, today we wanted to have the two opposing sides not opposing, but loving each other. So we decided our two sides would be the older generation and the younger generation. We believe that both are vital, and if one is missing, there is just no balance. The younger generation needs the wisdom, knowledge and guidance of the older generation, and the older generation needs the fresh ideas, boldness and change that the younger ones can bring.
So our picketers had the younger side telling the older side how awesome they are, and then the younger ones telling the older ones how awesome they are. It was so funny to see the strange looks from people passing as we yelled terms of endearment at each other...He-he-He! Then others would smile and wave to us, happy to see anything different that would break up the monotony of a normal day.
Check out our video, and join with us as we appreciate the awesome qualities of those around us!
Merry Christmas and May God Bless You!

9 Bus Drivers

Today we went to a very special place...West Fort Worth Dialysis Center. You see, nine bus drivers were on our list of people to bless today and after talking with a very special friend of ours, Pat... we decided to go somewhere were the Mits Bus Drivers drop off. We wanted to surprise a few of them with a gift and a thank you for all they do. Mits Drivers drive the disabled, and they do it by appointment. It's quite different from a regular bus. According to Pat, they have a pretty hard job. Not all of the people they pick up are friendly, but the drivers take it all in stride and remain patient. They also can have very long days because they can't go home until all of their riders are taken home, no matter what time that may be.
So we asked Pat where we could catch a few of these drivers at the same time, she suggested a place like a dialysis center. She rides Mits and knows that quite a few people are dropped off there. We called and talked with Jonelle at the Dialysis Center and she said they would be glad to have us.
Once we arrived... we hid over on the side of the building until each one of the Mits drivers had taken their rider into the the building, and then once they where getting back on their bus...BAM!...we sprung out and surprised them. It's funny, I think they were all in shock. They really did not know what to say. They were definitely surprised!! I really think they thought we wanted something from them... like there was a catch to this gift or something along those lines, but once the end of our "Thank You" spill came and they realized we were just saying "Thank You", they began to smile and act like...wow, this is cool!
We finished the day by going to some regular buses in Fort Worth and surprising them at the Amtrak station. Still the same...all speechless. It was funny, they just didn't know what to say, but...they all had smiles on their faces!
You guys that drive the buses..we just want to say thank you! You have a special job, hauling people around all day. We believe that's precious cargo. Thanks for all you do from Mission Reality!

God Bless!

8 Patrons singing at Rosas

I tell you what...this experience has been incredible. Everyday has been totally different than the day before, and today was no different. What a great time we had at Rosa's Cafe' and Tortilla Factory! First I want to say thanks to Brad and the other managers that were there...you guys are awesome! I also want to thank all of the employees. They were so fun and helpful! We started out popping up from behind the counter when people would hand the cashier their money. We would pop up and surprise them and pay their bill. All the team members had a turn, then while we were doing this, things got crazy outside. It started sleeting like crazy!!! We thought that no one else would come in after the sleeting started, but hey...we were at Rosa's! People will go through blizzards to eat their food! They kept coming!
After we finished popping up from behind the counter, we started singing to the patrons. We actually would sing to them, saying that we would love to bless them with free sopapillas if they would sing a Christmas Carol. Oh my gosh, it was so much fun! There were many people that decided to sing for sopapillas!!! We had a great time together. It's amazing how much fun you can have when you start blessing people!!! Thanks to all of you good sports, we had a blast!

7 Reverse Pan-handlers giving

DID YOU KNOW...it's really hard to give money away when you dress like a beggar, then stand on a street corner in Dallas holding a sign that reads...I have plenty, I need to give money! WHAT???
Well...,this is exactly what we did today. We dressed all of our guys as homeless guys, then put a sign in their hand telling people that they had a job, or had work and wanted to give. Then they stood at the Corner of 35E and Mockingbird in Dallas, trying to give out 5 dollar bills. We found that the most common thing that happened is people ignored them. Most never knew what the sign said because they wouldn't even look at it.
So...our guys started going up to windows and waving the money while they held up the sign!!! THEN, people started to take notice. Of course... it is shocking to see a homeless man giving money away, and that was our whole plan...the irony in it! Wouldn't it be nice to pull up to a light and have someone give instead of take?

We hope that some people were blessed today, and we hope that the spirit of kindness and love was spread!

Merry Christmas!

6 Giant Gifts at Skate Queen

Wow, what a blast from the past I had today!!! We had so much fun at the Skate Queen in Weatherford. It's been a few years since I donned a pair of skates. I thought I was doing pretty good until I skated off of the carpet and onto the slippery rink, then I was like...Whoa!! I forgot about the part where some kid darts in front of you trying to get to the side, and there's no where to go except plow right into them, ouch.
I will say this; the music has definitely changed! I think almost every song that played was Hannah Montana. Needless to say, I did not get my wish for disco.
Well anyway, back to the mission. We were on a mission to give away 6 giant gifts. Now I'm talking giant..like six 3'x3'x3' boxes wrapped in red Christmas paper with big red bows! We had the gifts at the back of the rink and I don't think anyone really noticed them because the side of the rink kind of hid them.
We had 6 gold stars and what we did was the team skated around for an hour or so, keeping an eye out for kids that where nice to others. Like...the girl I choose was Ella. I watched her skating with her friend and her friend fell. Ella stopped and then got down on the floor with her friend and helped her back up. Ella was very sweet and she always had a smile on her face.
Each team member found their own child that was being kind, and we all handed out our gold stars. The kids had no idea what the gold stars were for. We told them to hold on to them until we announced a surprise that we had for them.
When we had picked all our gold star recipients, Joshua stood up and announced who we were, and asked all the gold star recipients to come to the back of the rink. We then told them they had each won one of these giant gifts for being kind. We had each winner stand in front of their box and... we counted to three and them let them tear their gifts open.
It was awesome!!! Did I mention Awesome??? How fun! He-he-he...I loved it! They were so surprised! Inside their boxes were giant stuffed animals. Watch the video when it comes up and you will see how big they were! The kids loved them... I mean some of the animals were bigger than the kids! Today was one of the most fun days! I mean what adult doesn't love watching a child tear open a huge gift and then their eyes getting huge when they see it... and then the joy!! I loved it! We all loved it!
Thanks Skate Queen for letting us come today! You rock! Oh...one thing though...I really think you should play some disco!

Tomorrow, we go on a journey of the smallest of blessings! Oh, but the unsuspecting people who fall into our trap. It will be lots of fun!

Blessings to you

5+ Homeless Helpers at Beautiful Feet

Today we visited some friends of ours; Mike Myers and the gang at Beautiful Feet. Beautiful Feet Ministries is on Hattie St. near downtown Fort worth, and they serve the needy and homeless. They serve breakfast and lunch, preach the gospel, provide medical and dental clinics, supply clothing to people who are in need and much more. Mike is the founder and director and if I where to describe Mike to you, I would describe him as a man after God's own heart. He is also a man filled with the Joy of the Lord, and it shows evrywhere he goes. He is one fun guy!
We totally surprised him and his gang by rushing in with "Movie Night" baskets, and then we sang them a song of thanks! They are such a deserving group of people!!! What they do is not easy; some of the issues that come up from day to day are stressful, yet there they are every day, being Jesus!

To Mike and evryone down at Beautiful Feet,
You guys are amazing! Thank you so much for the love you give. The gifts we gave weren't much, but we hope you enjoy them. You are true servants of Christ, and I know that someday you will hear, "Well done, good and faithful servants!"

Johnny, thank you so much for helping me keep the surprise, I enjoyed getting to talk with you to arrange this.

Day 6 is tomorrow and we are going to be at the Skate Queen in Weatherford! It's been a long time since I've put on a pair of skates, but I can't wait. I hope they play some disco...I love Disco! Come out and skate with us, we would love to meet you!

Have a great evening...

Wow! 4 Christmas Wishes...

Wow! What an incredible day!!! It started early, I had to leave the house early and by the time I arrived at the office Tammy had been there since about 6:30 finishing up the wrapping and getting us organized for the day.

You see today we went out and granted 4 Christmas wishes from the KLTY "Christmas Wish". We picked out 4 families that had been nominated by friends or family, and drove from one place to the next until all their Christmas' where delivered! What fun!!!

We had some very special helpers today as we went and visited these precious people. The Myers Brothers Band hung out with us all day and sang to the families that we went and visited; Nathan, John and Jake...(Jarrod is in Nashville). They were incredible!!! Myers Brothers, the thing that really touched my heart was that every time you sang, you truly brought the atmosphere of praise, over the birth of our Savior, into the room. It was magical and beautiful ,and I thought at times my heart was going to burst with love for our Lord Jesus Christ, and His arrival into the world that glorious night! Thanks again guys!

The first house we visited was for a sweet man named Julio. Julio is legally blind and he and his two sisters just lost their mom last year. Julio lived with his mom, so he has really taken her loss hard. Julio works as a janitor, but I think he only gets part time hours, so keeping up with his apartment rent and other expenses is a struggle for him.
So with the help of his two sisters and his niece, we went and surprised him this morning with Christmas.

Julio, we hope you have a wonderful Christmas! You have a truly wonderful family that loves you very much. What a blessing!

The second house we went to was for a sweet woman named Kirsten. She just lost her husband this past summer from medical problems. She has two precious children and they are having a rough time, so with the help of her friend Elaine, we took Christmas to her also. She was very overwhelmed, but I felt like maybe some of the burden was lifted with the gifts we took.

Kirsten, you are so sweet, we are so sorry for your loss and we will continue praying for you. We hope you have a wonderful Christmas!

The third place we went to was not a home, but a school called the Clubhouse for Kids in Bedford.
Darlene Hollingsworth started the school because as a mom to her Down Syndrome son, Jonathan, she could not find an after school care facility for him. There are about 26 total students, and it's been a continual struggle for her; carrying the financial load for the school. She is so awesome; totally a woman that believes God will keep his promises and provide for the school...I love her faith. She loves those kids so much, you can just tell!
We took her Christmas gifts and some money, and Tammy's dad even donated a very special gift... watch the video and you will see what it is! We also got to meet her friend that nominated her, Carrie, and another special friend Mona. Carrie and Mona, we are so glad you got to be there when we showed up, it was wonderful to meet you!

Darlene, you are truly doing an amazing work. Keep on keeping on, and thank you for being the example that you are!!

Well, it was time for our last visit, by this time my two kids, Katie and Christian were out of school, so I was able to run and get them so they could help us out.

The last person on our list was nominated by Lisa, for her sister Deedra. Deedra has five children, and they have been having a rough time financially, so they really were not going to have much, if anything for Christmas. The thing that really touched us about Deedra is the fact that she has given up her bedroom to her kids, and she sleeps on the couch every night. What a mom! We showed up with presents for everyone and money. It was amazing!!!

Deedra, you are a special mom the way you love on your kids, and we were privileged to meet you!

Well, that's it for tonight. What an incredible day! It just doesn't get any better than this! I know I've said this before, but I will never forget this Christmas, and we are only 4 days into our 12 days!

God Bless

Three Toll Booths

I just want to say that today was a little different! We went to three toll booths...and we wanted to bless the toll attendants with a few gifts to say "thank you" for their service and then pay for drivers toll as they went through. Now you must know, I am not a huge fan of the tollway. That's because it never goes well with me! It's never the attendants, they are great, it's the machines! They never work for me. I throw money in...and wait while cars stack up behind me instantly making me feel pressured to hurry and get out of their way...meanwhile I am still waiting, green, green...turn green....I finally throw in more money...and wait...the pressure mounts, still no green...I decide to make a run for it, I mean what else can I do, I'm out of money and no one is coming to help me! BUT once I do this and the little bell starts ringing, this adds more pressure. It is not in my make-up to break rules..and then get caught. Does this mean a ticket? Yes it does. Well OK.
Then there are the times I'm driving along and the toll booth sneaks up on me out of nowhere and I suddenly realize I'm in the toll tag lane and must cross over 4 lanes of traffic to get to the little man that can give me change, so that he can throw my quarters in for me. Can't they give the little man a button to push so he doesn't have to throw quarters in all day?

Wow, How did I get off on that. Back to our mission for the day...to bless the toll attendants and the drivers. We blessed the first attendant, and we were successful, but then the next two did not want their gifts. This is the first time we have been turned down when saying "thank you" to someone. I mean we tried everything to get them to take their gifts to no avail. OK...so on to the next part of the mission, to pay the drivers toll. We had success for a few drivers then we were asked to leave. So we payed toll until we were basically escorted out of the lanes. We really did have a great time. I would love to hear from some of you guys that we got to bless. There was one woman that was so cute, she gave her attendant her dollar, then he gave it back to her, so then she drove a few feet to me and tried to hand me her dollar. I know we really confused her!!! So I told her again that we wanted to pay her toll and she finally realized what was going on.

Well, that was day 3...how fast the days are going by.

Day 4 is going to be huge, you do not want to miss it. Check back tomorrow to see what the 4 Christmas wishes are that we are going to grant!

Blessings to you and remember to make your mission a reality!

Two Check-out counters at Kroger

Another very busy day finds me sitting here blogging at 10:00 pm, about an hour past my bed time! Our 2nd day of Christmas was AWESOME!!! We went to Kroger in Garland on Shiloh and the turnpike, and surprised some very sweet people by buying their groceries.
I can't wait for Joshua to edit the video tomorrow (and get it up on the site), to see the looks on the peoples faces again! It was so great, I can see their faces in my head...He-He...I love it!
We met with Rebecca from Kroger and she helped us out with the whole mission. Rebecca -thanks so much for letting us come and add a little Christmas Cheer to the store, you are awesome!
If you were at the Kroger store last night, we would love to hear from you!

When we left the store wearing our Christmas hats, it was sleeting like crazy! How exciting it was; it made it feel so Christmassy (Is that a word?... oh well, it is now). I know that this will be a Christmas I will never forget. I feel way more blessed than any of the people recieving the blessings...hmm, I think that's always how it is. It's way better to give than to recieve!!!
Remember, go out and make your Mission a Reality!

Tomorrow, it's going to be really, really cold, and we are going to pop up at somebody's toll booth! So if you have to go through any toll booths tomorrow, be sure to keep an eye out for Mission Reality!

Surprising One School Teacher, Sarah Lambert

Well...it's Monday night around 9 pm and I'm finally winding down after a pretty busy day! Today was Mission Reality's first day of our 12 Day's of Christmas. It was soooo fun, we all had a great time. Our teacher was Sarah Lambert at Comanche Springs Elementary School in Saginaw Texas. We went in and surprised her during lunch.
A couple of weeks ago we contacted Mrs. Caldwell, the principle, and she was awesome!!! She had nothing but wonderful things to say about all of her teachers at Comanche Springs, but in the end felt like Sarah was the perfect teacher to give recognition to. Sarah and Mrs. Clark work under the leadership of Mrs. Miles in the Special Ed. Department, and they all share a special bond with each other, and with the kids. They all three work very hard taking care of the kids and their special needs, what a special group of teachers!
Mrs. Caldwell and Mrs. Miles; you are both awesome ladies and we loved getting to meet with you and planning this very fun day of surprises. To Sarah and all teachers out there, you are awesome and we thank you for pouring yourselves into our children! We wished we could have honored you all in person today, but we say "Thank You" and "God Bless You !"

Tomorrow we are going to pop up and surprise some one in Garland! Perhaps at a grocery store? Now what on earth would we be doing at a grocery store? Check in tomorrow and find out!
God Bless!
